Search Engine Submission

In the past, search engine submission was an option for a webmaster to get their site listed in searches. Google, Yahoo!, and other engines still allow a person to send in submissions.

This practice is relatively outdated though for various reasons. Still, anyone can submit any and all websites that they so desire.

The process is usually fairly simple but can be done in multiple ways. It is always useful to know how to take care of this though.

To start out, an individual will need to figure out which search engines to submit the websites too. There are quite a few of them out there.

Sending the sites to all of the major engines is never a bad idea and is even recommended. In most cases, there is a simple submission form that must be filled out.

From there, that particular engine will more than likely accept the entry. It will then be crawled and ranked in searches.

As previously mentioned, search engine submission is relatively outdated now. The companies that run the engines are now using bots and crawlers that seek out websites.

That means that virtually all homepages on the Internet are found. Therefore, it is a rare occasion when someone's site does not find its way into the search engines.

Such a situation is the main reason a person would want to submit their site in the first place. Submitting entries to a search engine does not take much time but is mostly pointless in most cases.

Of course, a site will not show up right away if it is brand new. However, it should not take more than a few days for any given site to find its way into the results.

An individual should absolutely submit their site if it has not shown up after that though.
